We’ve got two new doggy events for charity coming up, giving owners and their dogs a chance to socialise with other pooch loving people whilst raising vital funds for the Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home.
On Saturday 6th August bring your best-four-legged friend to ‘Yappy Hour’ where owners can indulge in a little drink and small tapas from 4-5:30pm. And on Saturday 3rd September, the Doggy Coffee Morning will be on from 10-11:30am.
Both events give the chance to catch up with fellow fido owners and are now a regular, monthly fixture on our calendar – with the Doggy Coffee Morning running every alternate month to Yappy Hour – and always on the first Saturday of the month. The next Yappy Hour will be on 1 October and 5 November for the Doggy Coffee Morning.
The Doggy Coffee Morning is £7.50 per person and this includes a tea/coffee and breakfast roll. The Yappy Hour is £12.50 per person and everyone will get a drink (small glass of wine/bottle of beer or soft/hot drink) and a small tapa to enjoy!
Graham Blaikie, owner of the Mercat Grill in the village of Whitecraig, near Musselburgh said: “Come and enjoy our popular doggy events, with all the money raised, going to the Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home. I’ll have my own, new pups aka the Haggis Hunters, coming along to socialise too! We love dogs here at the Mercat Grill and they’ll be in for a treat too!
“We also have our refurbished, beer garden area – where you can sit and enjoy your drinks outside with your dog and the rest of the dog loving fraternity.”

Owner of the Mercat Grill Graham Blaikie said: “This is always a financially challenging time of the year and when you add in the effects of the pandemic and rising inflation, we wanted to do something to help our customers, get a little more for their money. They’ll also get a warm, welcoming and safe environment to enjoy some great quality pub fayre at real value for money prices and lift their spirits this winter.”
“We’re now open every day apart from a Tuesday and our offer is available for lunch or dinner (Thursday to Sunday) and dinner on a Monday & Wednesday, with last food orders at 8pm. Valentine’s Day is the only date, excluded. We look forward to seeing you soon.”

We’ve got two new doggy events for charity coming up! On Saturday 5th February bring your best-four-legged friend to our very popular ‘Doggy Coffee Morning’ from 9:30am to 11:30am. And on Saturday 5th March, ‘Yappy Hour’ launches, where owners can indulge in a little drink & small tapas from 4-5pm with all proceeds going to the Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home.
Both events give the chance to catch up with fellow fido owners and will now become a regular, monthly fixture on our calendar – with the Doggy Coffee Morning running every alternate month to Yappy Hour – and always on the first Saturday of the month.

Graham Blaikie, owner of the Mercat Grill in the village of Whitecraig, near Musselburgh said: “Our last Doggy Coffee Morning was such a huge success that we’ve now decided to run it every second month, on a Saturday morning! With our new Yappy Hour, running every alternate month.
“It’s really wonderful to have these events back up and running again. To see people catching up, laughing, having good dog related chat and all these gorgeous dogs back in my venue, is just amazing – whilst also raising money for a great cause, the Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home.
“We’re also fundraising for this charity with our own Doggy Calendar for 2022. For only £12.50 (or £20 if you buy two) you can have this super looking calendar, featuring professional shots of our four-legged customers and every penny of profit goes to the Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home. To buy one, simply come in and pick one up.”
