We hope you’re having a great summer!  We’ve got lots of news to share, from our Facebook competition winner, our new campaign to help reduce food waste to details of our next wine and gin tastings!  And more much more….

Our Facebook Competition Winner is Yvonne Walker – A huge well done to Yvonne Walker from Musselburgh who won our competition which we ran in June to celebrate the launch of our new website and tasty new menu!  Yvonne loves our nachos and Ann’s meringues!  Well done, you’ve won a meal for two!

South African Wine Tasting Event – (2 Sept – from £27.50pp/£32.50pp on day) – Woo hoo, we have a date for our next wine tasting event, it’s Saturday 2nd September, from 7:30pm!  It promises to be a hugely fun, informal and informative get together for all those who enjoy their vino and wish to learn more about a range of interesting South African wines.  We’ll have tapas style dining with cuisine that perfectly complements the wines you’ll be sampling.  Tickets cost £27.50 in advance or £32.50 on the day.

Food & Gin Tasting Event – (14 Oct – from £25pp/£30pp on day) – Back by popular demand is our ‘Gin Night’, on Saturday 14th October from 7:30pm.  You’ll have an opportunity to taste and learn about three different craft gins and enjoy tapas perfectly matched by our talented chefs.  It promises to be a great fun and informative night.  Tickets cost £25 in advance or £30 on the day.  And if you can’t make our gin tasting event, pop in and sample one of the 40 plus craft gins that we now have on offer 😊. 

Our Campaign to Help Reduce Food Waste –  We’re on a mission to play our part and help reduce food waste.  Did you know, the average household in Scotland throws away around £460 of food every year?  Turning less food into rubbish can make a real difference to the world around us – and that’s something we can all get on board with.

As part of a Scottish Government initiative and in collaboration with ‘Love Food Hate Waste’, we are offering customers a ‘doggy bag’ for any leftovers from their dining experience in a handy, biodegradable box to take away!  We’ve also introduced smaller portion sizes on a selection of our main meals, from our steak pie, scampi to haddock and chips.  If you’re looking for more personal tips on reducing your food waste, visit https://scotland.lovefoodhatewaste.com.

Finalists in Food Awards Scotland! – We’re so excited to announce that we’re finalists in the prestigious Food Awards Scotland.  Many thanks to those who nominated us and we’re hoping to scoop the award for ‘Best Restaurant’ in Scotland, for the second year!

Don’t Forget Our Promotion with Prentice Coaches – We teamed up with award-winning, local bus company, Prentice Coaches in June to offer passengers an exclusive 20% off their food bill, when they dine here at the Mercat Grill between now and 31/10/17 (excluding bank holidays and subject to availability).  The 111 service runs regularly from Haddington via Whitecraig (handily, right outside the Mercat Grill) to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and serves lots of locations from Gullane, Port Seton, Prestonpans, Wallyford to Musselburgh.
