Our Feb/Mar Newsletter

Hello,

It’s our first newsletter of 2018, so a very happy new year to you.  We hope it’s a fantastic one for you and your loved ones.  We’re off to a flying start, with lots of great events coming up and new things to offer!  Read on to find out more……

Our German Beer Night for Charity – On Saturday 10th February, from 6pm come and enjoy our mini German beer festival!  We’ll have a selection of fine German beers on offer as well as live music (from 7:30pm).  Owner Graham said: “It should be a great fun get together!  It doesn’t need to be October, to enjoy some superb tasting German beers!  Please do come along and help us raise funds for the charity, Rotary International.  Tickets cost £15pp and includes a beer, Erdinger pint tumbler to take home, Bratwurst sausage and entertainment!”

More Beer News!;

New, Exclusive Beer Available Here! – We are delighted to announce that we’re now selling Tennent Caledonian’s beer ‘Outpost IPA’ on draft and we’re only one of 50 hostelries in Scotland selling it!  So do come in and give it a try.  For £3.95 a pint, it boasts subtle fruity notes which are dominated by strong, malty grain flavours.  We would particularly recommend this 5% ABV beer with one of our chicken dishes like our Chicken Balmoral.  Yum.

New Bottled Beers! – We’ve increased our selection and now have over 30 bottled beers!   We’ve got new additions like Fierce Day Shift, a fiercely hopped American pale ale (£4.30) from Aberdeen, East Lothian’s Eyeball Yellow, a pale, intensely malty lager that celebrates the flavours that pale malt can bring to a beer: rich, toasty, bready, with a hint of sweetness (£3.50) to Siren Liquid Mistress (£3.70) a Red IPA from Berkshire where burnt biscuit and raisin from the malt base is balanced by the grapefruit and peach flavour spark from Amarillo and Cascade hop varieties.  Come in and try a few!

Beers to Take-Away – For your added convenience, we’re now offering beers by the can to take-away.  We have e.g. Berliner, Berlin’s party beer which during the Cold War was only available in East Berlin and these cans are exclusive to the UK (£8 per 4-pack) through to Beavertown Neck Oil a fantastic, hoppy IPA brewed in London with the brewery’s founder being the son of Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant!  Beers can be bought for take-away during our opening hours 11am-10pm daily (except Sundays 12pm-10pm).

Join the World’s Biggest Pub Quiz for Charity – Get down to our place on Thursday 8th March for 7pm, for a 7:30pm start to take part in the World’s Biggest Pub Quiz to help raise vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK and Cash for Kids.  Between 4-8 March, pubs, clubs and bars across the UK will be participating in this huge fundraising event, which aims to double their targets which saw 50,000 quizzers in 2,000 venues raising £200,000 for 800 charities in 2016 and 2017.  So come on your own or as a team and exercise your mind, have a great night and raise vital funds for two cracking charities.  Entry is £5pp and we’ll be offering cash prizes.  Quiz runs from 7-9pm.

Bring Your Pooch to the Pub Day – Bring your best, four-legged friend along for our ‘Bring Your Pooch to the Pub Day’ on Sunday 8th April.  We’ll be offering our delicious Sunday roast for you and your pooch for just £12.95 and the chance to meet other dog loving folks. Come along any time from 12pm until 3pm.

 Our head chef ’s Sunday roast is slow roasted and dished up with full of flavour, seasonal vegetables, roasted and mashed potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, sage & onion stuffing and drizzled with our rich, homemade gravy.  We’re sure both you and your four-legged friend will thoroughly enjoy!
